The Good News for us today is that the Holy Spirit sets us apart, then sends us. In Acts 13, the church at Antioch was worshiping, fasting, and listening when the Holy Spirit called Barnabas and Saul for the work He had prepared for them. Their story reminds us that we are not simply set apart from something—we are set apart for the gospel and sent to make Jesus known.
As we follow Paul and Barnabas, we’ll see that God’s calling comes with His grace and is lived out in community. Sometimes the Spirit says go. Sometimes He says stay. Either way, our calling is to listen, trust, and obey. God gives the work. God supplies the grace. God gets the glory.
